CASE STUDY · PHOTO FRAME CUSTOMIZER & GALLERY WALL DESIGNER

How Pixmagic turned one-off print orders into a made-to-order wall art business

Three years in, WTPBiz still builds alongside Pixmagic, the Shopify store, the customer-facing apps, and the strategy behind both.

A Gallery Wall Designer order from Pixmagic, printed, framed, and shipped.

THE CLIENT

An Australian wall art brand, built one gallery wall at a time

Pixmagic (pixmagic.com.au) sells custom, personalised prints, from framed photo sets to acrylic and metal wall art, to homes across Australia. Customers trust the brand for its quality and its reviews, but three years ago the buying experience hadn’t caught up to that quality yet. That’s where WTPBiz came in: we built the Shopify store Pixmagic runs on today, and we’ve stayed close ever since, consulting on UI and marketing strategy as the business has grown.

THE PROBLEM

Every custom order started with an email

Before the Photo Frame Customizer and Gallery Wall Designer existed, “custom” at Pixmagic meant something slow. A customer would email their photo, someone on the Pixmagic team would resize it by hand, and the file would go to print without the customer ever seeing what the finished piece would actually look like on their wall. It worked, but it didn’t scale, and it left buyers guessing right up until the order arrived.

WHAT WE BUILT

Two apps that let customers see it before they buy it

We built the Photo Frame Customizer and Gallery Wall Designer to close that gap right on the product page, inside the same Shopify store we’d already built for Pixmagic.

FC

Upload a photo and watch it drop straight into the frame, at the exact size and finish being purchased, so there’s no guessing before checkout.

GW

Pick a layout by frame count, arrange and crop each photo, choose a border, and preview the whole wall as one piece, not six separate guesses.

SF

The Shopify store itself

We built pixmagic.com.au from the ground up, and we’re still in it, consulting on UI and marketing strategy as the brand scales.

The Gallery Wall Designer, live on a Pixmagic product page, filled with a customer’s own photos.

HOW IT WORKS TODAY

From layout to print-ready file, without a single email

The flow is simple enough that Pixmagic’s own customers run it themselves, no back-and-forth required.

01

Pick a layout on pixmagic.com.au, based on how many frames the wall needs.

02

Upload each photo, arrange it inside its frame, and crop it into place.

03

Choose a border style and finish the design.

04

Place the order. A print-ready file lands with the Pixmagic team, straight to production.

WHAT CHANGED

From ready-made prints to a full made-to-order catalog

The apps did not just remove the email step, they opened up what Pixmagic could sell in the first place.

Custom, personalised prints now run on materials like acrylic and glass, not just paper, a product line that did not exist before.

Gallery Wall Designer’s multi-frame layouts give customers an easy way to add more frames to one order, which pushes average order value up.

The old email, resize, print, ship routine is gone. Every order now arrives as a print-ready file, automatically.

We’re working with Pixmagic to get exact conversion and AOV numbers on the record here next.

This has been a total game changer for us and all of our clients. The WTPBiz team are amazing people, easy to work with, and always available to support us.

Three years in, and still building

This is still an active partnership. WTPBiz and Pixmagic keep shipping new features and testing UI and marketing ideas together, the same way this whole thing started.
