DTF Size Chart: Transfer
Sizes by Garment
& Placement

"What size should I even send them?" is the question that stalls more DTF orders than any printer problem. This is the reference we wish existed when we started — every garment and placement, adult through infant, with the pixel dimensions your artwork actually needs at 300 DPI.

Every placement: front, back, chest, sleeve, pocket, hat

Adult, youth, toddler & infant sizing

300 DPI pixel sizes for print-ready artwork

10–12 in wide

Artwork at 300 DPI: 3000–3600 px

The mistake we see most: sizing the transfer to the design instead of the garment. A logo that looks right at 12 inches on your screen will wrap into the armpits on a youth small. If one design has to cover a whole size range, size it for the middle of the range and eyeball the smallest and largest sizes before you commit.

Gang sheets: where DTF sizing meets DTF pricing

Transfers don't usually get printed one at a time — they go out on gang sheets, rolls that typically run 22 to 24 inches wide, packed with as many designs as will fit. Which means sizing isn't just a placement question, it's a cost question: an 11-inch full front eats a lot more sheet than a row of 4-inch chest logos, and the difference shows up directly in your price per transfer. Most shops still pack these sheets by hand in whatever design software they own, and it's usually the slowest part of the whole DTF workflow. A gang sheet builder takes that off your plate — designs go in, the layout gets packed automatically, and what comes out is ready to print.

DTF sizing FAQs

What size should a DTF transfer be for an adult shirt?

Full-front adult designs typically run 10–12 inches wide. 11 × 11 in suits most adult tees; go 12 in for XL+, scale to 9–10 in for small sizes.

What size is a left chest DTF print?

3.5–4 inches wide — roughly credit-card-to-palm size — positioned 7–9 inches down from the left shoulder seam.

What resolution should DTF artwork be?

300 DPI at print size: an 11 in full front needs ~3300 px wide; a 4 in chest logo ~1200 px. Upscaled low-res art shows in DTF's fine detail.

What sizes do DTF gang sheets come in?

Usually sold by roll width — commonly 22–24 in — in lengths from 12 inches to several feet. Packing designs efficiently per sheet is how DTF pricing works.

Are DTF sizes different for hoodies?

Front prints run smaller (10–11 in above the pocket; 3.5–4 in chest) because the pocket shortens the printable area. Back prints match tee sizing.

What size should infant and youth prints be?

Youth: 7.5–9 in. Toddler: 6–7 in. Infant: 5–6 in. Rework fine text when scaling down — don't just shrink adult art.
