Why roll width matters for gang sheet pricing

A customer once asked why the same 50 logos quoted almost 30% cheaper on a 24 in roll than on a 22 in roll. The math is simple once you see it: one extra design fitting across each row means fewer rows total, and fewer rows means less length billed. On a tight design size, the difference between a 22 in and 24 in roll can be the difference between 5 and 6 designs per row, which compounds fast over a big order. Gap matters too, in the same direction. A 0.5 in gap instead of 0.25 in adds up over dozens of rows. Most DTF printers default to somewhere between 1/8 in and 1/2 in, so check your shop’s setting before you quote a price off this calculator.

What gap should I use between designs?

1/8 in (0.125) to 1/2 in (0.5) is typical; check your printer's setting. A smaller gap saves length and cost but leaves less room for cutting error.
