Bleed and Safe Zone

Bleed is artwork extending past the trim line so no white edge appears if cutting is slightly off; the safe zone is the inset area where important text or images must stay so nothing gets cut off. Together they're the two most common file-prep errors in custom print orders — and the reason most design tools show visual bleed and safe zone guides during design.
